Competitions

The Youghal Open week is a Tennis Ireland/Munster Tennis graded event open to players from all other clubs. This year the 2024 open week  takes place from June 14th to June 22nd.

We set up the marquee for Open Week and it is a very social occasion and great opportunity to meet and play against players from other clubs.

The John Hunt Memorial Interfirm is a local and inter-club competition run in memory of John Hunt who along with our president Frank Delaney served for many years as an officer on club committees developing the club and it’s facilities.

The competition is a mixed grade competition and runs in a Cup Plate format, where losers in the first round of the Cup enter the the Plate competition. This normally runs in April/May timeframe.

Our club captains Don Sheehan and David O’ Connell regularly organise internal ladder competitions and other competition formats.

We also run box league competitions for the juniors and occasionally have the parents/adults take on the juniors which is always great fun.

Munster Tennis run graded league competitions throughout the year. Winter League Phase 1 and Phase 2 are round robin competitions with teams of four. Phase 1 is normally ladies and men’s doubles and Phase 2 is normally a mixed format (2 ladies/2 men). Summer Cup is a knockout competition and there is also a Spring League. Matches are played at home and away against a wide range of teams in Munster.
